The main attraction of the Hawaiian islands are its coral beaches, cloud shrouded volcanic peaks, lush green vegetation contributing to its apt name “paradise of the Pacific” with palm trees in abundant sunshine dotting the beauty line.

Open Question: Laid back US beach destination in December?

Where can I find a laid back but well maintained beach town in the US? Me and my girlfriend are looking to go on a vacation next month somewhere nice with a laid back attitude. In the summer we vacation at Sylvan Beach, NY which has a well maintained beach and a very small amusement park. However, because it is in NY it obviously is not a good destination for December as the beach will likely be under 2 feet of snow by then. Any Ideas? We would prefer to be able to rent a small cottage with some privacy from neighbors. Our budget is about $1500 and we would like that to cover a weeks stay. Preferably the cost of lodging will be near $1000 to leave a travel and dining budget. Thanks for the response U.S.A. gal but we are looking for somewhere warm in December :)

My younger brothers, ages 13 and 9, do not like to travel. They would rather stay at home and play video games or football. How can I convince them to want to travel?
