Caribbean Vacation Travel Cruise

I'm looking to take my girlfriend on a trip to either Jamaica or Puerto Vallarta. I have frequent flyer miles that cost much less for Puerto Vallarta...but is it worth the savings? I heard that Puerto Vallarta was expensive. If it is nice enough and cheap enough I wouldn't mind living there someday. Please let me know which is a better destination for the cost.

I was just reading answers to another question and one YA comment really struck a chord with me - "expecting people to travel great distances and take vacation time to do so, to go to destination weddings, weddings on holiday weekends, weddings that are done so cheaply ( i loved the recent " do i have to provide chairs?" questions) that they really really should not not not be done at all, well, these are all new things in this world where anything goes. except, the truth is, it doesnt." I don't mean to target this person at all> i was just hurt by this comment. Both me and my fiance, my fiances parents and my parents live in different cities, so we are having the wedding in his hometown where some of my relatives also happen to live. Most of my side will have to travel around 4-5 hours to get to the wedding.(all in all, about half the guests will need to travel). This is also just after New Years - so my question is, is this really unreasonable of us to have a wedding where people need to travel AND is planned over a holiday? We are having the wedding at this time and this place because with my fiance being in the army it's the only time we can "fit in" the wedding for the last 2 years. Going by the comment above this is a MASSIVE no-no. Do all people think like this?? Is this what all our guests are thinking??

I want to plan a vacation for my fiance and myself and money is no object. Please give me some ideas on where to go and what to do!!! Thanks!

Hey, I'm gonna start off with the background story I have a female friend which we went on a trip together to Europe for a vacation(strictly just friends). On the first night she met a guy who travelled along with us on the rest of the trip (btw...he also had a friend). Really nice guy...so what right? Anyways, on one of our destinations we all wanted to go to a club, but on the way my friend and her new "BF" decided they wanted some alone time. Ok fine, so I decided to go on to the club with the other guy and leave them alone. But before we separated, I asked her if she can take my camera cuz I don't want to lose it in the club and she agreed. So I come home late at night and go straight to bed (my friend and the guy were already asleep when I got back to the hostel). So the next day we woke up and went for breakfast and I forgot about the camera until we get back and I ask her for it. Of course she has no idea where it is and said the cleaning staff must have taken it. In the end, we decided that we'd split the cost of the lost camera (half each)...which I think is fair. Fast foward a few months, I asked her to pay me back. She replied with a message saying she shouldn't have to pay half the brand new price I paid at the time purchase but half of what it was worth at the time it was lost. Ok fine, I agree with that and admit I never thought about that. She also said she didn't like dealing with money issues between friendship. Ok...fine....but this is the part which really pisses me off. In the same email she writes, Honestly, I don't think I should be paying you anything at all. I watched your camera as a favour as a friend and because I lost it I have to pay for it? To me, it sounds she doesn't want to take any accountability at all and she's trying to get herself out of paying a small debt. And by saying "she was doing me a favour" made it sound like I asked something huge of her. Wow...Geez....I only asked her to watch my camera cuz they weren't going clubbing with us so it'd be safer with them. A simple task...and now she's trying to blame it back on me? And she contradicts herself when she said she doesn't want money to cause problems between us then saying I shouldn't have to pay you cause I was doing you a favour. I don't know...I thought I was already being fair by charging her half the price of an outdated camera. But by saying what was above, to me, it just pisses me off this tells me alot about her character. What do you people think?
