One of the best ways to spend the summer is a family vacation at the beach. The sun, the sand, the sea, the relaxation, the fun of beach games, there are all waiting for you to spoil you with the best holiday ever. If you can’t decide which is the perfect location for a family vacation at the beach, you must know that in 2006 Hawaii was the hottest family vacation destination. Beautiful beaches, world-class golf, surfing, shopping, swimming, top notch hotels, condominiums, eco tours, national parks, warm weather, cool ocean breezes, you can have it all in Hawaii. There are four more popular islands in Hawaii that are suitable and affordable for a family vacation at the beach: Oahu, Maui, The Big Island and Kauai. Open Question: Laid back US beach destination in December?

Where can I find a laid back but well maintained beach town in the US? Me and my girlfriend are looking to go on a vacation next month somewhere nice with a laid back attitude. In the summer we vacation at Sylvan Beach, NY which has a well maintained beach and a very small amusement park. However, because it is in NY it obviously is not a good destination for December as the beach will likely be under 2 feet of snow by then. Any Ideas? We would prefer to be able to rent a small cottage with some privacy from neighbors. Our budget is about $1500 and we would like that to cover a weeks stay. Preferably the cost of lodging will be near $1000 to leave a travel and dining budget. Thanks for the response U.S.A. gal but we are looking for somewhere warm in December :)
